I'm constantly inspired by nature. Whether it's the natural beauty of flowers, the wonder of animals or the diversity of the landscape; there's nothing quite so life-affirming as nature. So, when it comes to crafts, what better place to start than the natural materials we find (quite literally) on our doorstep.
This is really an autumnal make and we are now in winter but using nature in everyday life is year-round. And, seeing as it'll soon be Christmas, why not adapt these leaf print cards with festive leaves instead? Holly and ivy make ideal alternative to fallen autumn leaves.
For these leaf print greeting cards I simply collected a few leaves from the garden, painted or sponged on some print dye (available online or in your local craft shop), placed a piece of kitchen towel on top and rolled over to make a beautiful imprint.
I just love how detailed the prints are and how they show off the intricacies of the leaf structure.
Try out a few prints on a piece of scrap paper before you commit to your card material. And between each print, be sure to check your fingers and materials for dye as it's far too easy to accidentally mark your pristine cards and spoil the result!
For my next batch of homemade leaf print greetings cards, I'm going festive using Christmassy tones of red, green or gold dye. Perfect for sending to friends and family.
