LIVING | Feeling festive

With only a week and a half to go, I can honestly say I'm feeling super festive! This Christmas, it's going to be just me, the hubby and the cat.

We'll be catching up with family after the main event on Boxing Day - as relaxing as our very quiet Christmas sounds, it just wouldn't be right to not spend a good few hours filling up on yummy food, wine and laughs with the five generations currently in my side of the family.

Today, I spent time in and outside of the house, making sure the little den looked as festive as I feel. I'd decorated the tree yesterday, which I'm very pleased with but I felt the house needed more light. I adorned the dresser with a garland into which I tucked lots of fairy lights and added lights outside to the two boxes that stand either side of the front door.

As I'm keen - as always - on putting my own spin on our Christmas decor, I spent the rest of the day foraging for natural materials to make a rustic table centrepiece from the countryside surrounding the village.

I collected twigs, pine cones, a stray conker and a few sprigs of holly from the garden. And of course, I never like to miss the opportunity to get a few snaps so I took my camera with me to capture the beautiful sunshiney weather and the wonderful countryside surrounding our village.

Did I mention, I oven-dried some slices of orange - also for the centrepiece? Honestly, feeling so festive!

Come back later this week to see my finished nature-inspired table decoration.
