As much as I like to "live in the now", delving into our great country's history is one of my favourite things to do. I'm fascinated by how things used to be, how we used to live, what we used to think.
With the festivities drying up by mid last week, my husband and I decided fresh air and a heap of good 'ol fashioned ruin-stalking was just the thing to get our bodies and minds active after the Christmas indulgence.
After checking out a few spots of interest on the English Heritage website, we headed out in the truck.
First stop Ludgershall Castle. Against the sparkling blue skies and damp grass, the ruins looked spectacular and although the walls were just snakes on the ground, it was easy to imagine the splendour of each room, as they must have been.
You can find out more about Ludgershall Castle on the English Heritage website here http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/ludgershall-castle-and-cross/
The weather turned grey and misty as we made our way to the next stop on our tour.
